The Speaker of Parliament of Montenegro Darko Pajovic has signed an agreement on cooperation with 57 non-governmental organisations today.
As stated, the agreement on cooperation between the Parliament and NGOs in Montenegro is aimed at strengthening trust between the Parliament and the NGOs, as well as at creating a sustainable partnership based on the principles of transparency, openness and mutual respect.
“This agreement encourages strengthening of institutional dialogue between the Parliament and NGOs through enhanced mechanisms for information exchange and favourable conditions for the effective and efficient participation of NGOs in creating public policies and the consequent legislative solutions. The agreement is open to all other non-governmental organisations”, Pajovic said.
Pajovic also pointed out that the agreement was also aimed at coordinating activities related to planning, designing and implementing projects of mutual interest and concern for the general public.
“Increasing the effectiveness of NGOs and the level of parliamentary openness to their requirements is particularly emphasised, as well as improving accountability of the Parliament towards the citizens, support to more efficient alignment of the laws of Montenegro with the EU acquis in the field of human rights, the rule of law, culture, education, health, social welfare policy, environmental protection and other relevant areas,” he said.
