A fire has broken on Qatari sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa’s 124 metre long super-yacht today. Thanks to the efficiency of Tivat firefighters, members of municipal protection services and volunteer firefighter club Krtoli, the fire has been quickly extinguished at the power cabinet, Dnervne Novine newspaper learns.
The Qatari yacht, which has recently sailed into the marina of Porto Montenegro, was tied to pier 3 at the marina.
The fire broke out at about 11:30am and was extinguished in 15 minutes. As confirmed by the acting commander of the protection service Zoran Barbic, the fire broke out at the control cabinet with storage batteries in the energy room, which is located on the first level below deck.
“Fifteen officers and four vehicles participated in firefighting”, he added.
The yacht of the sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa, a member of the ruling Al Thani family in Qatar, whose wealth is estimated to be about $2.5bn, is about $300m worth. Khalifa is the CEO of Qatari Investments within which the Qatari Diar operates. Quatari Diar plans to build a luxury tourism complex at the location of Plavi Horizonti at the bay of Przno.
