President of the Assembly Ivan Brajovic has announced today the presidential election for 15 April. This will be the seventh presidential election since the implemenation of the multiparty system in Montenegro.
“I believe that elections will be held in a positive and democratic atmosphere and that we will all together show once again why Montenegro is the leader in the region. I urge all citizens to come to the polls and choose the best candidate,” said the President of the Assembly.
Regarding the announcement of the election, President Brajovic also informed President Filip Vujanovic.
The candidate of the Democratic Party of Socialists will be presented to the public in two weeks. Then, as announced by the Democratic Front (DF), they will come out with the name of their candidate.
Representatives of the “civilian” opposition are still weighing, but two leaders from that block have pleaded – Demos President Miodrag Lekic could be a candidate again, while it is certain that SNP leader Vladimir Jokovic will not be canidate.
