Special State Prosecutor’s Office will check the contents of the report of an independent investigation which allegedly showed that Dusko Jovanovic was killed by Giuseppe Giordano in 2004.

“Special State Prosecutor’s Office has formed a case to check information from the report containing data related to the murder of Dusko Jovanovic. The case was launched based on the report made by a private detective, which is submitted to the prosecutor’s office. Preliminary investigation on the case is ongoing,” the prosecutor’s office stated.

It added that for the time being additional information cannot be disclosed in the interest of the ongoing process.

“At the same time, we note that any public disclosure of information related to any case may jeopardise the process. The prosecutor’s office timely publishes all information that may be available at a certain stage of the process. Everything else represents interfering with the work of competent state bodies”, the prosecutor’s office warns.

MP for the Democratic Front (DF) Koca Pavlovic told Dan newspaper that Giuseppe Giordano killed Dusko Jovanovic, late editor in chief of the newspaper.

He added that the investigation was initiated by the Jovanovic family and that the report had been submitted to the prosecutor’s office three months ago.

Giordano is a member of the Sacra Corona Unita mafia. He has been in jail since 2013 when he was arrested in Manduria (the province of Taranto, Italy) for the murder of Santino Vantaggiato, the boss of one of the Italian mafia organisation. Giordano killed him in 1988 in front of his house in Bar. He was sentenced to 30 years for Giordano’s murder.

Pavlovic said that there were two other persons who had been involved in Jovanovic’s murder and that they were also in the prison.

He called on the prosecutor to compare Giordano’s DNA with the one found on the weapon Jovanovic was killed from.
