NATO is following very closely reports about intensified influence of Russia in the Western Balkans, especially in the expectation of the parliamentary elections in our country. That is why it helps strengthen their intelligence capacities and defense institutions, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said in Sarajevo.
“We are following that very closely, we work with partners to help them strengthen their intelligence capacities. We are cooperating with our partners in the region, including Montenegro which will soon become a full NATO member in order to strengthen its defense institutions, as well as intelligence service.” Stoltenberg said.
The best way to increase resilience towards any kind of external influence or potential intervention is to make sure that the institutions in different Western Balkan countries are strong, modernized and reformed, that there is rule of law and fight against corruption.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg denied today in Sarajevo speculations that NATO intends to deploy its troops in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
