BELGRADE – Serbia will not back Montenegro’s candidate for UN Secretary-General, Igor Luksic, Serbia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic told the Danas daily.

Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said on Tuesday that Serbia would back the candidate for the UN’s top job that would stand a good chance of actually being elected, noting that the decision had yet to be made.

“The candidate that Serbia will back will have a 70 percent chance of being elected. We will make sure that the one we support actually be elected so that we have more impact and opportunities,” Vucic said.

Danas notes that Montenegro has recently voted in favor of Kosovo’s admission to UNESCO, and that Dacic stated on the occasion that Belgrade was “disappointed, but not surprised “with Podgorica’s move.

What a clown show, glad Serbia is not sucked into this one. Igor Luksic’s own vanity will serve his final fait. That is a given.
