The session of the Committee on Political System with the scheduled consultative hearing regarding the Proposal of amendments to the Law on Media has been canceled due to lack of quorum.

Chairman of the Committee, SDP’s Rifat Rastoder, said for Portal RTCG that DPS representatives who have a majority in the parliamentary body, did not appear at the session. He believes that political motives are the reason to the absence of DPS MPs.

Answering the question of our portal whether and when the new session of the Committee will be scheduled, Rastoder replied: “There is no time to schedule a new session of the Committee. There are no opportunities for it with the current dynamics in the Parliament.”

Deputy Chairman of the Committee Snezana Jonica apologized to the guests due to the cancellation of the session.

“To not come and to prevent those who have been called to speak tells a lot about those who make impossible for the guests to express their opinions,” the Jonica.

Director of Television Vijesti Marijana Bojanic assessed that today’s move sufficiently shows how the ruling structure cares about the media, saying that any change in the media does not suit the majority in Parliament at the moment, reports Mina.

Executive director of Radio Antena M Miodrag Strugar said that today he wanted to talk about some parts of the Proposal that are not part of the European practice nor it is possible to apply them.

He noted that this primarily refers to the criterion of “readers, viewers, listeners and trust.”
