After the Slovak parliament and Government, the Protocol on the Accession of Montenegro to NATO has been signed by the president of Slovakia, Andrej Kiska, the Spectator reports.
Slovak media remind NATO sent an invitation for Montenegro’s membership in December last year. The media report that the Slovak Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs believes Montenegrin membership will significantly contribute to safety, security and freedom of the Western Balkans.
In order for Montenegro to be admitted into NATO, the protocol must be ratified by all members of the alliance – a total of 28 countries.
Earlier, the President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Darko Pajović, said he believes the ratification process will be completed by the middle of next year.
