Montenegro needs calming of political tensions and that is currently key national interest, said the Social Democratic Party (SDP) leader, Ranko Krivokapic.
He had talks with Ambassador of France Christine Toudic yesterday, regarding current political situation in Montenegro and Euro-Atlantic integration. He also presented to her the current political developments in the country and key socio-economic problems and challenges the citizens of Montenegro face.
The SDP leader said that the main objective of the party was to find ways out of the political crisis, including repeat parliamentary elections along with the presidential, which would be held no later than the first half of 2018.
“Montenegro necessarily needs calming of the high political tensions and this is a key national interest at this time. The SDP will now work on a political resolution of crisis, as we did at the end of 2015, when we launched a parliamentary dialogue and together with the EU restored peace to the streets of Podgorica. The SDP is aware that in many places there are those to whom the instability suits and who seek and invoke political and judicial scenarios that lawfully lead to conflicts,” said Krivokapic.
He said that the SDP is the only political party in Montenegro that from the time of its establishment, has the same program values of commitment to the EU and NATO integration.
