Brigadier General Douglas A. Farnham, commander of the Maine Army National Guard (US) is to pay a several-day visit to the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Montenegro (VCG).
Bojan Sarkic, the state secretary at the Ministry of Defence and Admiral Dragan Samardzic, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Montenegro will meet him tomorrow.
During his stay in Montenegro, the commander of the Maine Army National Guard will visit the Milovan Saranovic barracks in Danilovgrad, as well as the headquarters of the Air and Navy Forces of VCG.
According to the statement of the Ministry of Defence, Montenegro has been in a strategic partnership with the state of Maine since 2007, which is presented through the State Partnership Program (SPP).
Partnership with the Maine Army National Guard has significantly contributed to improving the capabilities of VCG and achieving full interoperability with the armed forces of NATO member states.
Since 2007 the cooperation has taken place in several areas – providing support and assistance to the Armed Forces of Montenegro in the implementation of the objectives of the Partnership, improving VCG’s readiness for participation in international missions, as well as improving the ability to respond to emergency situations.
In the framework of this cooperation a significant number of joint activities of members of the US Armed Forces and VCH have been implemented.
