The formation of the government of electoral trust, Montenegro gives a good example for a stronger pluralistic democracy in the country, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the US State Department Brian Hoyt Ji said.
Hoyt Ji congratulated the political parties who have contributed to reaching a historic agreement, which should pave the way for the holding of free and fair elections.
“This is a good example given to the political parties in Montenegro that there are ways to resolve differences and to cooperate for the common good, so that the people of Montenegro would not be faced with setbacks, constant conflict, but to find common ground on the way to that what country and the people want, and that is that Montenegro is in NATO, in the European Union with a strong economy. It is also a good example for the region, given that the other countries in the Western Balkans are facing not identical but similar problems when it comes to finding a common language of the opposition and ruling parties,” Hoyt Ji said in an interview with Voice of America.
He said that 2016 was a very important year for Montenegro, given that celebrated the 10th anniversary of independence.
“I’m very glad I was able to attend the celebration in Podgorica a few weeks ago,” Hoyt Ji said.
