MPs of the Montenegrin Parliament have begun debate on the Bill on Ratification of the North Atlantic Treaty, which provides the conditions for the entry of Montenegro in NATO.
Explaining the draft law Prime Minister Dusko Markovic has said that the Montenegrin Parliament today has the historical privilege to decide what will be remembered as long as Montenegro and Montenegrins live.
“This decision could not be brought anywhere else but here in Cetinje,” Markovic said.
He said that this day is making the brightest history of Montenegro, “alongside the 1st of July 1878, when the Berlin congress discussed confirmation of Montenegro’s independence”.
“This is an opportunity to pay tribute to the shadows of the Montenegrin heroes who are built into the foundations of our country. Membership in NATO is a long-term guarantee of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country,” Markovic concluded.
