Montenegro will continue to be a reliable partner to the international community and the United Nations, Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic said during his address at the UN General Assembly’s 71st sitting in New York. Djukanovic pointed out that it is necessary to move from words to deeds due to the fragile and deteriorated state of the global peace and security.
He said that Montenegro’s enthusiasm and commitment to the mediation was encouraged by the strategic orientation of Montenegro and its commitment to dialogue and cooperation in good faith as the best ways to overcome the differences, calm tensions and achieve durable solutions.
We are witnessing that the world is facing a humanitarian and refugee-migrant crisis that has not been seen since the end of World War II.
“The UN must take a leadership role and be more proactive in finding long-term solutions to the global problem of refugees and migrants. The solutions should be based on the division of the burden and responsibilities, as well as on international law and human rights of refugees and migrants”, said Djukanovic.
He pointed out that the world continued to be under constant stress because of threats from terrorism and violent extremism.
