War crimes suspect in custody for up to 72 hours

Police arrested Vlado Zmajevic (47) from Niksic who is suspected war criminal. During the war in Kosovo in 1999, he allegedly killed seven ethnic Albanians, two women and five men, in Gnjilane. After the hearing, the special prosecutor Milivoje Katnic issued a decision on remanding Zmajevic in prison for up to 72 hours.

“Upon the order of the Special Prosecutor’s Office, members of a special police team in cooperation with members of the Security Centre Niksic, arrested Zmajevic on suspicion of having committed a criminal offense – war crime against civilians”, the Special Prosecutor’s Office stated.

The suspect was questioned by the special prosecutor, who remanded him in custody for up to 72 hours.

Zmajevic is a citizen of Montenegro and he had fought in Kosovo as a military volunteer.
