President of the Political Council of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Svetozar Marovic, was officially indicated yesterday as the leader of an organization that is charged with a series of corruption scandal which financially damaged Municipality of Budva for tens of millions of euros.
Although he formally did not take any decisions nor signed the controversial documents, the Special Prosecutor’s Office found four witnesses, who stated that Marovic directly or indirectly issued orders and gave instructions for frauds. That is why he was charged with incitement to commit criminal acts. He will remain in custody for 30 days.
Daily ‘Dnevne novine’ write that during the hearing in the Special Prosecutor’s Office, Marovic did not mention any names and he denied the responsibility in the contentious process. He allegedly claimed that witnesses associates did not tell the truth and that they accused him and his family in order to protect themselves.
“I am ready to answer and be punished for all that is proven that I have done illegally,” Marovic said during yesterday’s hearing.
Although it was not stated for which cases he was charged, apparently those are: TQ Plaza, Jaz and Prijevor (AMD Budva). 14 people were arrested due to alleged fraud in the business of construction of TQ Plaza and plateau on the Jaz beach, including the son of Svetozar Marovic Milos Marovic, as well as Svetozar’s brother Dragan Marovic and daughter Milena Marovic-Bogdanovic.
