Radoje Zugic saud he will accept the proposal of the President of Montenegro, Filip Vujanovic, to be the next Governor of the Central Bank of Montenegro, as he confirmed for CdM.
However, his appointment is untimately in the hands of the Parliament of Montenegro, which President Vujanovic asked to urgently convene on September 30th.
“I’ve just recently received this information. If I get elected in a democratic way, absolutely, I’ll take the job. But until I am elected by voting, nothing is final”, Žugić said for our news portal.
Vujanovic has previously explained that he proposed Mr. Žugić because the mandate of the current CBM Governor Miloica Dakic expires on October 14th, and his deputy governor Nikola Fabris on October 21st.
“Thus, the Central Bank of Montenegro would be left without its head, should we fail to elect a new governor in this current convocation of the Assembly”, Vujanovic said in a statement.
Mr. Radoje Zugic has already served as Governor to the Central Bank, from 2010 to 2012, after which he was appointed Minister of Finance. He held this position until the formation of the ‘Government of electoral confidence’, when he ceded his seat to Rasko Konjevic of SDP.
Žugić is now an adviser to Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic.
